No. However, if taking your own pageant headshot, here are a few tips to help your image look as professional as possible.
A great five-year-old contestant can outscore an eight-year-old because scores are given to each contestant based on their individual performance. The same is true for every age division. The age divisions are divided into nine age divisions: 2-4; 5-8; 9-12; 13-15; 16-19; and 20-25. The MS division is open to women over age 26 or women who are a parent, divorced, and not married. The Mrs division is open to women, of any age, who are married. The Elegant division is open to all women 50 and over. The age of the contestant is determined on the first day of the American Miss National Pageant.
Yes. The most important thing you want to remember, is AMP is not a glitz and glamour pageant. Please keep in mind - age appropriate make up and clothing which enhances the natural beauty of your daughter on stage, is always the best choice. Same is true for the older age divisions. That includes shoe selection. The ability to be confident on stage, and walk gracefully in each area of competition is what is most important and will always the best choice when selecting a pageant wardrobe.
Absolutely. Sponsors can be a business, organization, family, and or friends. Please be sure to have your sponsor information in by the AMP deadline for printing.
It is highly recommended that you do. Pageant weekend is an experience from the moment you decide to enter. You and your family plan your wardrobe, practice at home, and pack a pageant suitcase. Once you register on pageant weekend, you'll be surrounded by like-minded girls who truly are amazing in their own way.
AMP has activities planned for the entire weekend. There will be a dressing room available, during the pageant competition. AMP will allow ample time for wardrobe changes ... however, be mindful of the schedule and prepare your outfits ahead of time.
Each contestant will receive an AMP Official Contestant Poster they can post on their hotel room door. Contestants are encouraged to autograph the posters of their fellow contestants.
Yes. Judges will be given an official AMP program book as part of their judge's packet.
No. There is no contract for either contestants and any of the title holders. AMP does have rules and regulations that each parent must sign at registration or before. Contestants 18 and over, will be required to sign a copy of the AMP Rules and Regulations. See the AMP Rules & Regulations on the ABOUT AMP page.
It is highly recommended that you do make appearances as an AMP title holder and work to add a sparkle to your AMP crown. The AMP pageant will feature all winners from previous years' pageant and will ask they crown their successor.
It is recommended that each contestant does sell one sponsor page for the program book however, it is not mandatory. It allows a contestant to be featured in a full-page or half-page ad in the official American Miss National Program book.
All contestants and at least one parent/guardian must attend. Tickets will be limited to three guests per contestant. All guests require a ticket to attend. Contestant tickets are included as part of their entry fee.
PAGEANT TIP – When selecting an evening gown, be certain your evening gown is altered so that it is not too long. A gown that is too long does not allow a delegate to walk gracefully and can negatively impact her overall score.
Your gown doesn't have to be the most expensive. It should flatter you. Finding the perfect dress is all about knowing which styles will highlight your best features, and keeping your selection elegant, and age-appropriate. Remember, it doesn’t matter what size or shape you are, if you find a dress that you feel confident in, feel free to go for it. It’s all about showing off what you love about yourself!
For the evening gown competition, Judges will be looking for Poise, Gracefulness, Confidence, and Overall Appearance. Scoring: 30% of the overall score. Mini age division only - 50% of the overall score. The Judge’s scores & notes are available one week after the competition and will be emailed to all delegates.
